Grace is fascinated by the wolves in the woods behind her house; one yellow-eyed wolf in particular. Every winter, she watches him but every summer, he disappears. Sam leads two lives. In winter, he stays in the frozen woods, with the protection of the pack. In summer, he has a few precious months to be human ...until the cold makes him shift back again. When Grace and Sam finally meet, they realize they can't bear to be apart. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human - or risk losing himself, and Grace, for ever.
Review:
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater is the first in a refreshingly new series about "Werewolves and kissing". Not only is Ms Stiefvater creative, but with each word she wrote it became obvious to me that she's an expert when it comes to romance. The two main characters Grace and Sam have the sweetest yet most heartbreaking story I have ever read, like Romeo and Juliet with a wolfy twist. This book brought out the hopeless romantic in me and I have to admit I did fall for Sam. He's every girl's dream and every guys inspiration. The things I learned while reading Shiver were:
1) Not all werewolves should be compared to Jacob Black
2) Sam and Grace are the new Romeo and Juliet
3) Maggie Stiefvater is an amazing writer
The ending left me in tears!
Plot: 20/20
Characters: 20/20
Cover art: 20/20
Writing: 20/20
Ending: 20/20
Overall: 100/100 a PERFECT score!
PS. I loved how each chapter starts with a temperature :D
